Shirley Nabs FALS Victory

Shirley Dominates at Fairbury for $10,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals Triumph

 

Fairbury, Ill. – June 23, 2012 – Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., scored his second Hell Tour win in three nights at Fairbury American Legion Speedway Saturday night earning $10,000 for his 50-lap main event victory.

Shirley got the early jump on defending Summer Nationals champion Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., and never looked back turning away a challenge from Eric Smith of Bloomington, Ill., late in the main event.  Shirley will extend his Summer Nationals point lead over Babb to 36 with the win.  Smith finished second ahead of hometown driver Scott Bull.  Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., finished fourth and polesitter Babb rounded out the top five.

The tour returns to action Sunday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., where Shannon Babb bested 45 other DIRTcar Late Model drivers for the win last year.
