Billy Moyer Wins at Benton for 102nd Career Summer Nationals Victory

By Dawson Elliott June 24, 2026

No matter the place. No matter the time. No matter the competition. Billy Moyer continues to show why he’s one of dirt track racing’s all-time greats.

Moyer, the 68-year-old National Dirt Late Model Hall-of-Famer from Batesville, AR, scored the 102nd win of his DIRTcar Summer Nationals career Tuesday night at Benton Speedway, leading all but one lap around the Missouri oval to kick off Week 3 of the Summer Nationals’ 40th anniversary celebration.

“I’m kind of trying to retire bit, but I just get bored,” Moyer said on what keeps his drive alive. “This has just been my life. The competition drives you in my family, and all the people that are here. It just makes it fun to keep coming back. Some of my friends with successful businesses told me, ‘If you’d work at anything as hard as you work on that race car, you wouldn’t be able to spend all the money you have.’ This sport’s been really good to me.”

The six-time Hell Tour champion lined up to the outside of fellow series champion Jason Feger as the green flag dropped on the 30-lap main event.

The front row stayed side-by-side throughout the first lap, but it was Moyer using the topside momentum to his advantage and rocketing around Feger off turn four to grab the lead.

Traffic became a factor on Lap 6 and allowed Feger to pull alongside Moyer as the battle for the lead intensified. Moyer was able to fend off the challenges of the No. 25 of Feger and maintain the lead. But after Moyer stumbled on the cushion through Turns 1-2 on Lap 10, Feger dove to the bottom in Turns 3-4 and pulled ahead of Moyer at the line by less than a tenth to lead the lap. However, Moyer was able to find just enough room to squeeze by Feger and the outside wall to retake the lead as they raced back into Turn 1.

As Moyer held strong out front, Tanner English was able to get by Feger for second on Lap 20 to take the runner-up spot. One final restart with five laps-to-go put English right on the leader’s bumper, but Moyer was not going to be denied, fending off the No. 96’s challenges and driving off to career Summer Nationals win No. 102 and his first at Benton.

“The one place I’ve never won, I guess that’s a cool thing. Theres been a lot of them that I’ve won at and then I go back and run like crap,” Moyer said. “There’s not a lot of notes so maybe that helps me a little bit. We didn’t have many things to go off, just make an educated guess and it all worked out.”

English continues to be consistent with a second-place finish, Feger was third, Tyler Millwood was fourth, and Clay Stuckey finished fifth.

Damian Kiefer Gets First Career Summit Modified Triumph at Benton

By Dawson Elliott June 24, 2026

One hour north of Benton Speedway sits Ste. Genevieve, MO — home to the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals’ newest Feature winner, Damian Kiefer.

Kiefer, 26, swept the night at the Missouri oval by setting quick time in Qualifying, winning his Heat Race and leading all 25 laps of the Feature to get his first career Summit Modified win.

At the drop of the green flag, Kiefer used his outside-front-row starting position to rip around Hunt Gossum and lead Lap 1.

On Lap 10, the race’s first caution spawned the first restart with Gossum sitting right behind Kiefer’s No. 0. Kiefer continued his strong evening with a good restart, hitting the cushion and surging down the backstretch to pull away from the field.

Kiefer went on to survive every following restart and lead every lap in the 25-lap main event to pick up the win, becoming the 90th different driver ever to win a Summit Modified event.

“It means the world to me to finally win one of these Summer Nationals races,” Kiefer said. “I’ve been going to these since I was a kid with my dad and watching him race against the best. And to be able to compete against the best tonight, we felt really good and it’s quite an accomplishment to finally get one of these off the checklist. Our car was super balanced there; it’s been really balanced the last six weeks. The race car doesn’t bobble, and it just doesn’t get tight. I can do just about anything I want and it’s really fun to drive.”

Justin Haley finished second, Zeke McKenzie was third, Gossum was fourth, and Austin Rettig rounded out the top five by advancing 13 positions.
