First start. First win.

Zack Mitchell entered Tuesday night wondering how he fared with the competitors of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models.

Leaving the 30-lap Feature at Shadyhill Speedway, the Enoree, SC driver can now call himself the Hell Tour winner for the first time after a dominant performance in the Hoosier State.

Mitchell and Colin Shipley led the field to the green flag, with Mitchell taking the lead off the top side of Turns 3-4 to take command on the opening circuit.

Mitchell held a one-second advantage until he approached the tail end of the lapped traffic, allowing Shipley, Trey Mills, and Rusty Schlenk to join the fight for the lead.

Stuck in traffic, Mitchell held a slight buffer of 0.5 seconds over Shipley until Mills forced his way around Shipley by pushing him up the track in Turn 4.

The resulting contact kept the No. 46 stuck to the top side, then spun across the frontstretch with a flat right rear tire on Lap 28, setting up a last-gasp effort from Mills and Schlenk towards the end.

While the two drivers chased down Mitchell on the three-lap dash, they were the first to witness the Coltman Farms Racing No. 57 Longhorn Chassis cross the finish line as the 118th different winner of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. Mitchell also becomes the first driver from South Carolina to win on the tour.

“It feels really good,” Mitchell said. “I don’t think I had that on my bingo card for tonight, but we put together a good night. A solid night put ourselves in position to do this. I know the racetrack kinda rubbered up, but I had a really good piece all night long.”

Leaving the Week 5 opener, Jason Feger holds a 65-point gap over Tyler Erb entering the final five races of the 2025 season.
