While Billy Moyer tied for all-time in Late Model wins, Treb Jacoby added a new achievement in his career with the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals.
The O’Fallon, MO driver picked up his first career Modified Nationals Feature win on Tuesday’s season-opening event at Brownstown Bullring with supremacy on the high side.
Similar to Moyer, Jacoby started on the outside of the front row and used his positioning to get ahead of polesitter Brayden Doyle to the lead by the end of the opening lap.
Jacoby felt no trouble as Doyle had to defend his position from Trevor Neville, Michael Ledford, and Trent Young while the No. J82 could only maintain a one-second lead over the four behind him.
Emerging from the group as the driver to challenge Jacoby for the win was Trevor Neville, as a caution on Lap 16 gave him a chance to steal the lead.
The two crossed racing lanes on the restart, with Neville leading Laps 17-18. Still, Jacoby came back for the lead on Lap 19 on the high side, then held onto the top spot until he saw the checkered flag in sight on Lap 25 to solidify his place as the 83rd different Modified Nationals winner.
“I’ve always wanted to win the Hell Tour,” Jacoby said. “It’s only fitting that it happened at Brownstown ‘cause this is where I got my first B-Modified win on the Hell Tour in 2019. This is only my first (UMP Modified) win at Brownstown, and we come every weekend, so to do it on this stage means a lot.”
