Poel Scores Farmer City Win

Poel Dominates Farmer City Raceway for Sixth DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Victory of 2014

FARMER CITY, Ill. July 11, 2014 — Jacob Poel captured his sixth victory of the 2014 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Friday night at Farmer City Raceway in dominating fashion as he led flag-to-flag en route to securing the $1,000 payday.

Poel, who last won Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway, started the 25-lap feature event on the outside of pole-sitter Nick Allen. Poel rocketed around Allen on the start of the race as he captured the lead on the opening lap.

Poel escaped to an early lead as second-place Allen came under fire from Lance Dehm, who started the feature in third position and grabbed second-place with ease as Allen faded through the field.

Dehm tried to muscle around Poel after two cautions slowed the field around the halfway point of the race, but the leader turned back the challenge from Dehm, as second place came under fire from Jeff Curl, who was charging through the field. Dehm and Curl battled side-by-side for a couple of laps before Curl cleared Dehm and set his sights on the leader.

Poel proved to be too strong in the final three laps as he never allowed Curl to close in for the lead. Poel dominated the feature event, leading every lap without facing a serious challenge for the $1,000 checkered flag at Farmer City Raceway.

“I can’t say enough about this car,” said the six-time winner in 2014 who drives a Rocket Chassis racecar. “It’s been a great car for me, and Farmer City has been a great track for us today and I’m glad to take home another one.”

Lance Dehm, Jeff Leka and Mike Harrison rounded out the top five.

Heat race winners were Dehm, Nick Allen and Poel.

The DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals travel to Fairbury Speedway Saturday night after the June 21 event was rescheduled due to rain.
