Nick Hoffman Secures Second DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Title

CONCORD, NC — With his 13th win of the 2019 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals — doubling his Modified Nationals career wins total — Nick Hoffman became only the second multi-time titlist of the most demanding and grueling tour in the country for DIRTcar UMP Modifieds. The 27-year-old’s victory in the Modifieds portion of the prestigious Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway clinched his second career Summit Mods title, joining Mike Harrison, a six-time champion, as the only other driver with more than one championship in the tour.

“We’ve been good throughout the month thanks to a whole bunch of great people and great sponsors that let us do this. We won twice here before in the Showdown Features on Friday night, but this is the first Prairie Dirt Classic,” offered Hoffman, who is now a two-time DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Champion to go with his fourth consecutive DIRTcar Nationals title he won back in February at Volusia Speedway Park (FL).

“We all worked until the sun came up on Saturday morning swapping out the motor and it all paid off Saturday night,” he continued. “A huge thanks to Willy Krup, Will Krup and JHA Motorsports for letting us borrow a motor and especially Dewrock for bringing it to the track. Thanks to my solo crew guy, Shawn O’Neill and also Dereck Hinderliter, Chad, Terry L. James and everyone that helped me put it in.”

Hoffman’s quest for his second Summit Mods title began slowly aboard his popular #2 Fox Shox / Elite Chassis / Wehrs Machine entry with a pair of 19th place finishes in the first two races at Kankakee County Speedway (IL) on June 13 and again at Jacksonville Speedway (IL) on June 18. From then on, there was nowhere to go but up and Hoffman certainly made his presence felt the rest of the tour.

It all started with his first Feature win of the Summit Mods season, at Spoon River Speedway (IL) on June 19. From there, the driver originally from Belleville, IL never finished worse than fourth the rest of the series, except for one event that he was absent from, June 29 at Highland Speedway (IL).

In 22 starts, the Mooresville, NC resident racked up 13 Wins, four second place showings, two third place efforts and a single fourth place finish for 20 top fives’, which also account for his 20 top 10 finishes.

Amongst his 26 career Summit Mod triumphs, they have come at 19 different facilities in six different states. The most success for Hoffman has come at Fairbury Speedway (IL) and Oakshade Raceway (OH) where he has three victories at each including two this season at Fairbury and one at Oakshade. 14 of his triumphs have occurred in his home state of Illinois with seven of those happening in 2019.

Hoffman trails only six-time Champion Mike Harrison in career wins all-time as Harrison has recorded 49 checkered flags. Hoffman is very comfortably in second by 13 wins over the next highest competitor, Ray Bollinger, who has 13.
