Mike McKinney Triumphs at Sycamore Speedway

 

Maple Park, IL — June 15 — Mike McKinney picked up his second career win with the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals in dominating fashion on Friday night in front of a packed house at the Sycamore Speedway. The Plainfield, IL driver of the 96M jumped to an early lead and was only challenged once during the middle laps of the race by Steven Brooks. Brooks would go on to finish in 2nd.

 

The battle for the 3-5 positions remained heated throughout the 25 lap event with Phil Dixon of Crosby, TX prevailing over Donovan Lodge and Ray Bollinger. Dixon made his way from the 7th starting postion to pass the 3rd of 4th place starting cars in the ending laps of the feature event.

 

Earlier in the evening McKinney and Brooks won their respected heat races. The pair of Illinois drivers also set quick time in qualifying groups 1 & 2. McKinney now finds himself tied for 2nd place in the points with Tyler Nicely while Brooks sets firmly in the 8th position.
