Jacob Poel Takes I-96 Speedway DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals


LAKE ODESSA, Mich. – June 26, 2011 – Home state driver Jacob Poel  of Sprint Lake, Mich., became the fourth different DIRTcar UMP Modified driver to cash in during the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals on Sunday night at I-96 Speedway in Michigan.

Poel, started sixth and methodically worked his way to the front taking the lead on lap 20 from Shannon Fisk, and held on over the final 10 circuits to claim the $1,000 top prize.  Fisk claimed second ahead of new Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals point leader Jeff Curl of Forrest, Ill.  Joe Rokos of Interlochen, Mich., finished fourth and Andy Sprague of Muskegon, Mich., rounded out the top five.

Heat race winners were Rich Robinson Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Fisk, and Poel.  Ryan Thomas of Gosport, Ind., won the night’s B-main.

The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals return to action Saturday, June 25 at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind.
